Job Title: Project Controls Lead
Location: Cork
Our client is a leading Engineering business based in Cork. They are looking for a talented, ambitious Project Controls Lead to join their team.
Purpose of the Role:

  • The Project Controls Lead will carry out all cost control functions as a lead on various projects during the design, procurement, construction and C&Q phases.
  • Continuously monitor variances from the cost and schedule baseline and take corrective action to achieve minimum cost and time overruns.
  • Ensure that procedures are applied to monitor expenditures and performance. All changes to the cost and schedule baseline to be recorded and expected final outcomes and continuously forecasted.
  • Responsible for the execution of their teams deliverable within an agreed schedule, set of hours and to an acceptable quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in establishing the contact price budget and submit monthly cost reports
  • Provide all necessary information requested to manage projects in relation to the cost and estimate
  • Establish rules and methodology according to the client requirements on cost reporting and forecasting
  • Effectively support the finalization of estimates into the contract price budget
  • Manage key communications with stakeholders across the duration of the projects and take the lead on strategic cost control efforts within a project, acting as the cost control SME when required
  • Lead cost control efficiency initiatives within the department and on client projects
  • Occasional in-country and overseas travel may be necessary for short periods


  • Third level qualification in relevant discipline and typically 10+ years procurement/ cost control experience
  • Ideally member of Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland or equivalent
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary design office or equivalent client engineering team
  • Experience managing a team of personnel in a similar environment
  • Knowledge of auditing, budgeting, estimating, and forecasting
  • Knowledge of lean working practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, multitasking and communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
